My Weekender rear seat backrest does not latch in the upright position. Even pushing it back, pulling on the lever and pushing harder it seems to latch but doesn't and pulls forward with no problem. I stopped quickly yesterday and BANG, the backrest flipped down! Yes, I have the correct extended U shaped latch on both sides of the body. I have tried lubing the mechanism but symptoms didn't change. I don't see any adjustment in any of the parts, looks like you just tighten it and that's it! ALSO, what are the black straps on the U shaped latches for? It looks like some sort of a safety so the seat wont flip forward but I don't see anywhere it would connect to! Someone else must be having this problem too! Thanks

So, it goes fully into upright position, with the latches over the U-shaped part it attaches to, but the latches themselves don't lock shut?

Also, I'm not understanding what black straps you are referring to. Can you post pictures?

The black straps are for holding the rear bed board up against the rear seat to more easily access whatever you have underneath. Like holding it up so you don't have to while getting the jack.

Fixed it by putting washers behind the U brackets and the body shimming them out away from side a little, that was all it needed, now the seat backrest latches fine in the upright position!

I guess the black straps are on 93's only as the 01 bed board doesn't have the buttons to hook the straps onto!
