This came from an import yard years ago, but it may not be import, I don't know. I'm showing it next to the 58 bug for reference, you can see it is curved and larger that a beetle or ghia. It is thicker than typical Sigla glass too, and no markings of any sort so I don't think it's vw. Most auto companies have some watermark; Sigla, GM, Fomoco etc. but this has nothing so I'm at a loss what it is for. Anyone got any ideas how to identify it? |

Is it safety glass (As in layered glass like a windshield) or tempered glass? _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Tempered. Must be a back window. And thicker than 70's anything. |

Don't rule out the front for many 50's/60's European cars, many of those were tempered although some had to have laminated glass installed to be sold legally here, that doesn't account for personal imports though.
It does look more like the back of something. I guess you'll have to start scouring vintage car pics to see what looks similar, I'll keep an eye out myself. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

That's a needle ISO a haystack. Ask the oldest employee at the oldest glass shop in town- hopefully called, "Ye Olde Glass Shoppe" _________________

My first guess is a back window for a Saab 93. There were quite a few of those around. _________________ Thanks,

Clear tempered it looks to me.
Stacy
I would guess 72 and up beetle rear glass. 65- 71 same size. In 72 they made the glass taller. Super or standard all the same.

Yes, the glass got bigger, I believe in 74, but the glass thats pictured is almost wider than the rear of the car. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.
