Hello all,

I have this power press which is leaking badly... and no clue how I can dismantle the rod from the cilinder to change the seals.

as a result... the pump itself is out of oil as well so - once I could fix above - how should I refill and bleed this system?

it leaks there where the ram comes out when you pump it to push. together with the ram, there is also the oil coming out.
So it seems like the seal at the end part of the cilinder seems broken...

Just connect it back and ram it back out!

Come on man - is the tool smarter than you? Very Happy

I think the end of the barrel that is opposite of the ram will unscrew to allow the cylinder to come out the back.
You may need a spanner wrench to turn it.
There is a small piece that the return spring connects to. You will have to remove the hydraulic fitting, and that piece will slide out the hole the fitting screws into.

Sometimes with a little google action and the name/numbers on the device, you can find a schematic on the item in question.

Why even reply if you are not going to be constructive. And wrong on top of it...

hey Peter - basically take the side fitting off, there is a hex screw inside that holds the spring. remove that, the piston should slide out. Remove the retainer clip, then the whole thing should unscrew. You'll see the seal that needs replaced and probably another retainer clip holding the spring in

over here we use the generic term porta-power. maybe that will help you find parts or instructions. Good luck

Thanks for all the replies!
Took a look at it this weekend and even though it looks as it can be opened up from the bottom... there is not really anything to open it (it is a pure cylinder so nowhere to put a wrench on?)
decided to give it with a friend of mine to take it to someone who works in the hydraulics business... lets see what he can do with it?!

Thanks!
Peter
