I ran using the 28 inch tires. I tried the 26s on one run and I just drove through htem in 3rd gear and a bit of 4th, but I have to figure out some gearing, the 4th I have is wrong. and it's too far out of the torque curve to pull.

Curious what R&P and gears do you have now and what do you believe you need to change them to.

Are you gonna keep the 28" tires?

Those are great numbers, you’ll definitely get it sorted for next trip.
This has been one of the best build threads on the forum lately.

Curious; why not run fuel injection? Rules on the class, or simplicity of the system?

Yes I'll keep the 28" tires, they worked well in all gears except 4th. I need to loose about 800rpm in the jump between 3 and 4.

I'm starting to look at injection more closely. Have been reading up on it when I had some free time in the last couple weeks as well as some other changes.

A short video showing out the back of the car. Skip to 4:45. I still haven't figured out my video editor and the first part is just a bunch of guys walking around the car. The course markers are a 1/4 mile apart.

It does sound like it has pretty long legs in 4th gear! No danger of salt dust down those carbs?

No trace of salt down the carbs too much air blowing over the carbs, which created a whole pile of other issues.....

Low pressure area over carbs due to aerodynamics?

Maybe the big CB air filter will break up the turbulence and actually help go faster.

Going thru tech inspection. ALWAYS the most harrowing part of a new car build. Flew thru with only 2 suggestions for upgrades to make it a full comp. compliant car

Waiting for Carlos' orders on the line. He is THE man, a true friend to all the racers. He's a big VW guy from England who flies over every year to volunteer at all the Bonneville LSR events. If Carlos isn't standing in front of your car at the line it's not the same.

That is so amazing and a great journey. I wish there was a documentary of the adventure of "Rowan's Rocket".

Thank you for sharing your amazing skills and focus.

Want to make sure my sponsors get a little love. Thanks to Jackpot Motorsports (Vancouver, Washington) for gas and meal money, Vallis Motor Sport (Welland Ontario) for building my transaxle for a really good price, Fire System Research (Pinon Hills, California), for the good deal on the fire bottle system and jumping through some major hoops to get it to Canada for me, Aircooled Classics (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) for doing the machining I needed.

All the guys listed for helping on the car or at the track and especially my wife for putting up with an MIA husband for almost a year and Burly Burlile for keeping reign on the herd of cats that make up our ACVW landspeed racing family.

Next year you need to remember to put a Samba.com sticker on your Buggy so we can all officially be your cheerleaders.

Shhh All stock VW gears, but I may be looking at some drag racing gears for 3/4, unless I change my fuel management, Then I may be able to use stock gearing. I've been doing a lot of reading since I've gotten back. Some intake systems seem to work better the more you load them up. Cool
