some people need to see it to believe it. by my 100mph estimate, the clutch saw about 14,590 rpms before it went *poof*
what they failed to realize is the input shaft speed in first is a whole lot when you go from 6th to 1st at those speeds
Robbie, I will rub suntan lotion on you if you promise to rub bag balm on my ashy elbows and my dry flaky taint _________________

Cam is in, backlash is set, cam bearing clearances in spec, and runout is .0005" at the center bearing.
Tomorrow, we build, assuming JBugs isn't out of cam plugs… . I will post the live stream link in this thread for anyone wanting to watch.

What roll will the string instrument play in this build? Are you implying live music perhaps? Just curious. Maybe a little ditty of “Classical Gas”

Good to know. I've never had a leak on one, but I'll ask Adrian for a dirty used one. Anybody have the specs on that the diameter should be on a reusable plug?

I THINK I have all my tools, but if I need to run down to the garage for anything, I was thinking about spinning the VW dealership promotional album I've been enjoying……
Got it NOS off Amazon too

On the other hand... scratch that. Likely "The Merry Go Round Broke Down" will be more suitable. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I prefer the metal cam plug myself. But the case must have the groove in the plug bore to use it. No groove - you're stuck with the plastic one. If so, glue the snot out of it (on the outside, not the inside - don't want any sealer in the front cam bearing!) Good old Permatex works well here. (secret of Permatex: it's soluble in methyl alcohol [AKA shellac thinner]). From the pics, looks like you have the groove.
Another thing: make sure to not clog up the oil drainback passages on the front main seal and cam plug. Apply sealer to these areas with a small (1/4") brush, as a thin coat. You want just enough sealer to effect a seal. Anything extra will extrude its way into the drain channels, clogging them and forcing pressurized bearing oil past the main seal _________________ '71 panel, now with FI
