Happened this morning. 2nd photo is the spot where my leg was. Should've went with disc brakes! Might have to make it RHD now.

man, that sucks a D. time to shop for a seat wall fwd clip. being that you posted it on the samba, i assume you didnt get messed up?

let me say this though, had that thing not been so low, the damage would not have been so bad. would have been on the frame rails more, where it is strong, not in the center of the nose....

True indeed! Many moons ago I rearended a ricer and put their trunk into the back seat, also at a very slow speed. The only nose damage to the bus was a crease left there by the over rider bar. My bumper just got scratched... they don't make 'em like they usta! Rolling Eyes

GotVdub,
Please let us know how you made out.
Any injuries?
Were you wearing a seatbelt? If so, 2 point or 3 point?
Hope you're OK.
John

that's a nasty fold up for 30mph. lucky to have your legs. the second pic shows a lot of rust in the floor area. might have had something to do with the extensive damage.

I doubt that, rusty or non rusty metal is going to fold at 30mph. It doesn't sound fast but would you like to have your body thrown against a wall at 30mph?

Did you see that plane crash on the news this morning. All the more reason to not fly in planes.

Hope you are okay GotVDub. Dont let it get you down, and dont let it make you think your DC should be at stock height.

look how the lower nose seam separated and lifted up like a big mouth. if that seam had held, the damage certainly would not have been as bad. a bus with a solid, rust-free nose, floor and substructure, would not have that damage. rust played a big part in that. i've seen tons of busses in wrecking yards that were mashed pretty hard and didn't crush up to the driver's legs like that. pretty scary.
