Yes I found amusing that as the article stated human error was to blame. If the truck was equipped with same technology the accident would not have happened.

One could just as easily claim that if the BUS had a human driver then the accident would not have happened. A human might have steered, not just stopped and become a sitting duck for the truck.

I am waiting for a bigger accident, perhaps seriously injuring or killing an occupant, and watching those engineers again claim it was human error. Some comfort to the injured or their families.

This is an example of doing something just because it (almost) CAN be done, not because it SHOULD be done.

We will become incidental casualties to the inventions of these morons who don't live in the real world. Put down the Monster drink, step away form the keyboard, and walk (or drive) in the real world, fellas.

The only way to avoid accidents with autonomous vehicles is if they have their own dedicated roadways. At the moment, there is no way for them to account for all the possibilities that a human driver can (or cannot) on a day to day basis.

An air cooled VW will make you a hoarder.

Do something, anything, to your project every day, and you will eventually complete it.

That's why Lutz said personal driving would be outlawed.

It sure is fun for them now to pass the blame onto the truck driver as human error, but lets just wait until one of those computers commanding their car has a melt down. Unless of coarse these are built with the higher grade quality lifetime warranty premium computer parts from China.

When I was a pre teen living in the city of L.A. ( mind you L.A. is a sprawling city as I lived near the beach) my best friend and I would go over to the fields a 1/2 a block from our houses and go dove hunting.
Imagine a ten year old today with his buddy walking home down his street with two shot guns and a couple braces of birds for mom to put in the pot for tonight's supper in L.A.
If you did that today you would be in social services custody, your parents would be in jail and the animal rights people would be all over the news.

Shitting in your diaper or not, if they want to ban self driving cars then you will be SOL. And today over 50% of the kids in college and university think socialism is a good thing and over 25% think communism is the way to go.
It's already 1/2 over and you don't even know it.

Hell, social services would confiscate the kids if they went to the park without adult supervision. Kids going out and playing by themselves are now being referred to as "free range " kids.

No wonder they think socialism & communism is the way to go, they've never had a chance to break free of the teat much less learn to fly on their own.

Moderator note:
Let's not get into political crap please, especially when it has nothing to do with the topic.
Anything further will be removed.
Thank you.
