The nose badge patch came from HOG years ago, so I was lucky to get that when I got the car. I just welded it in.
Yeah, I know it's just going to get worse light wise, until Dec 22...

Been chipping away at this thing. My goal is to finish the entire front of the car from the dash out to the nose so I can then epoxy and Poly prime it in one fail swoop. I didn't think there was too much work on the front clip, but of course it turned out to be a bigger mess than I thought as I removed paint and sandblasted rust sections revealing pin holes and shoddy repairs. So, I ended up having to amputate more rotten metal then anticipated which has consumed more time.
After welding in patches I like to cover the repair section with a thin layer of kitty hair since it is water proof, adds rigidity and covers up any pin holes I might have missed. I will eventually grind it down and then build filler on top of that to smooth it out before priming.
I also had to end up replacing the lower spare tire well recess. It looked good but blasting revealed a mess, and since the metal was so thin I had to cut it out. I couldn't find a repair panel on line, which is odd, since it is a common area for rot, so I made my own using basic tools and a vice.

The usual vendors have this repair panel - they call it the front apron or lower front panel. This panel has quite a bit of crown/shape to it to allow the spare wheel to fit so be aware if you use the flat panel you have made the spare wheel may not fit with the front trunk closed.

Thanks for pointing that out. You are correct. One second look, KGP and R didn't have a picture or it, I went to CIP they did, but you can barely make out the embossed area which is why I didn't think they had it.
What is pictured is just the beginning stages of forming it. I have shaped the crown to allow for the spare,

Spent the past couple weeks doing some final patches, then some body work. Kept chasing small dents, using the hammer and dolly and the stud puller to work them out and the then finish with a small bit of filler and then sanding, etc. finally was able to get down a quick coat of epoxy this afternoon and will top off with several coats of polyprimer tomorrow. Filled areas are visible as those areas where the primer has dried first.

I use TCP products, the epoxy is House of Kolor as is the polyprimer. I plan on using their Restoration line single stage for the color.

...and now in polyprimer. My usual method is to do the rough bodywork, welding and filler, then epoxy and polyprimer so I can see all the defects. Many can be sanded out, but some will require a super thin application of glazing putty or filler. ONce I think I have the panel perfect I polyprimer again and discover I don't after blocking again. Usually though I can work out all the flaws by blocking at that point.
I still need to do the trunk which I will just clean up and then epoxy. I also have to do the underside of the front clip, a few patches, clean up and epoxy.

Been messing not with installing disc brakes on my 59 bus, so the Ghia has been on standby. I ended up with a surprise day off today (in other parts of the country they get snow days, here in So Cal we get fire days) so I fired up my new 60 gallon 3.5hp compresser and cleaned up the dash and underside as well as hit some rust spots in the trunk. I then Osphoed it. Will clean it up again, do some sanding.on the pepto bismal pink paint in the trunk, then epoxy it.
Also ordered my paint today from TCP . They had the formula but I.gave them the inspection plate which had excellent original paint on it.

Thanks, that was a fun car, a total mess when I got it.
Cleaned up the dash and trunk and epoxy primed it.

Devilbis HVLP gun with a wide tip for primer.
I just bought a 3.5 hp, 60 gal compressor which makes it nice. I might even paint the thing.

Been addressing the disaster which was the rear right quarter. The panel had been cut before I got the car so I had no frame of reference for what the actual shape of the fender should be like other than photos and extrapolating based on what I had to work with. I was given some later donor panels and I had a repair section, but none of those are correct, so I had to weld splice cut and pound. So I reconstructed it based on what I think is correct. Obviously it needs more work, so if the contour of the wheel well looks off you won't hurt my feelings pointing it out.it would be easy enough to correct at this point as I have not body worked it.

Dan, if the rear end ends up looking like the front end, your golden. I have no doubt you'll end up with what you envisioned. That body is going to look fantastic with a coat of paint on it, Can't wait.
