Hey everybody... so my '90 vanagon stock wheels says 6Jx14 on them, but this site has multiple sizes listed for my model: https://www.wheel-size.com/size/volkswagen/vanagon/1990/
I'm trying to up it to 15" rims, but obviously am having a hell of a time finding anything that fits. My question is are these damn Empi and Porsche wheels my only options? http://www.busdepot.com/vw/0/1/4/0/524/
They're not terrible but I'd really like something...cooler...
Also, does wheel-size.com (link in first paragraph) list all those sizes because they all fit a '90 vanagon? Or should I pay attention to what the current wheel says and keep it at 6" wide when I up the diameter to 15"?
Any suggestions for nice, modern looking offroad rims in 15x6" 5x112 would be very much appreciated...! |

The Wheelsize.com site is grossly inaccurate so take any info on there with a grain of salt.
There are many, many 15" wheels that you can use, but not all are a direct bolt on. Some need spacers, some need new lugs, some need modifications to the wheels, and some need all of the above.
Also, keep in mind that many of the aftermarket wheels that are a direct bolt on for a Vanagon are not very strong and really shouldn't be used if safety is of any concern at all.

Try looking on your local Craigslist for Mercedes rims, which are 5x112 and have a center section that fits over the hubs on your Vanagon. I prefer 16" rims, but there are also 15" versions out there. They are much much higher quality than the aftermarket Chinese rims being sold by the various vendors. When you find some you like, post your questions in the wheel thread up in the stickies and Christopher from T3 Technique can chime in and tell you which bolt/studs and spacers you'll need. He's a wealth of information and can sell you everything you'll need to mount up your rims. _________________ Casey--

Not a troll, promise! After getting fed up with looking I got the GoWesty 16" rims (in black of course!) since they are going to be an exact fit. I'm super excited! |

Smallcar has a new offering (or at least first I've seen of it). 16" looks pretty nice, Aluminum or Titanium finish.
