Hi guys,

Have been lurking on this great forum for a while now and have learnt so much.

I have been meaning to get some pictures up of my 60 Bug for a which is now finally pretty much finished,

He is a matching numbers car covered just 56000 miles from new and has had four owners since 1960.

Have tried to keep him fairly stock and used nos or the best possible quality where possible, with just a few little touches of my own,

Really pleased how he has turned put even though i felt like throwing the towel in at some points, i rebuilt and detailed the engine over winter last year.

Many thanks for looking

Spectacular! Job well done.

I know how you feel about throwing in the towel, I'm right there. Did you install the interior yourself?

First let me say that you have done a magnificent job on the car. The engine looks wonderful ,my only suggestion is that though it is now 12 volt ,to make it look period 1960 that you paint the blue Bosch coil black as all 6 Volt coils in 1960 were painted black.

That's absolutely stunning, a high level restoration. Not a criticism but keep an eye on that fuel pump, sometimes they put out too much pressure. Beautiful car...... Very Happy

Awesome bug. Nicer than new . Wouldn't a 1960 have a 36hp engine though ? Is it original ?

Thanks for the kind compliments guys its really appreciated, somebody else pointed out about the coil and it has since been painted black, i would like to get a nos fuel pump but just cant seem to find one Very Happy

You are lucky over in the states and have much more choice of parts, ordered many bits from overseas

The car is a late month 1960 so is actually a 61 spec which gets the 40hp motor and later fuel tank.

I did most of the interior myself, not the headliner though i ordered a mohair type from WW.

Still a few little bits to do (isn't there always) Hes been out this summer and drives lovely, taken him to a few classic car shows also.

That looks like an all-aluminum billet pulley, such as is offered by CB Performance.

Awesome car, mate.

Love it!!! Absolutely awesome...you should notch the hood trim over the Wolfsburg crest so it sits on the body properly... for some reason the replacement trim doesn't come notched for pre 62 cars... I had to notch mine to mimic the original.

Even the new Pierbug pumps don't put out the correct pressure?
