Hi, regarding my 75 latebay doka, should there be juice on all ignition switch wires, when cranking the engine?
I’m trying to find out why there is no headlight power.

The headlights are powered by the black/yellow wire (circuit #X), it cuts out while cranking but gets power when the key is in the run position.

It's very possible that the "accessory" position of the switch is bad. This circuit was used as a "load reduction" when in the start position so that no power goes to the accessories (head lights, wipers, blower motor (in later cars.).

Thanks guys. Right now I’m trying to get all the electric things to work. There is No engine in it. So I just put the wires together in the back. And it dident go AS expected when i turned the key. Ill investigate further, and have a closer look at the ignition switch.

The ign switch seems to be faulty.
Just to get on with the work, I shorted the 4 wires going into the ign switch.
Is this alright? I’m asking because I thought this setup would simulate cranking the engine. But it’s the only way I’m having power to the headlight and side indicators at the same time. If I only short 3 of the wires, I either have power to the side indicators or power to the headlights. Any pointers?

My few experiences in shorting out wires that are meant to be plugged into a component usually became an irritating and sometimes expensive event.

The best way I have found to deal with what you describe is to POWER DOWN everything, break out the Ideal Wire Lables and my home-made continuity tester. Circuit by circuit, with line diagram and notepad within reach, I make discoveries with little risk.

Put on some of your favorite music... or maybe some earplugs if line diagrams cause dizziness... and commit to the time it will take. Even with that, you are not guranteed. The last circuit that defeated me was the key buzzer in my 1973 bus. I still have not deduced why I cannot get that circuit to operate correctly.

And then there are idiocies which are not our fault. Ask me about the brand new steering coupler that I finally discovered actually conducts electricity.

I agere in your points of View. The thing is that my time for Playing around with the doka is very limited. And i hate to get “stuck” While waiting for parts.

But I did find a diagram and is now trying to figure it out.

How do I use this diagram https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiring/bus_1975.jpg

I’m used to seeing diagram more item location wise drawn. I dont understand the track numbers.

The current tracks are far superior for troubleshooting. A couple of hints

Everything on a Bus grounds somewhere, that's the big yellow track at bottom.

Sxx denotes a fuse, number xx

Tyy denotes a connector, number yy. You will find a description and location of each connector in text.

The current track numbers guide you to the component in question

You have to translate the colours into German, like gelb for yellow

Yes.
Try this diagram: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiring/bus_1972_headlights.jpg , it's for a 72, but the headlight circuit is the same.
