Quick troubleshooting question....
I just replaced my heater box levers and put a new thermostat and flaps in (po just wired everything open), I have heat but no defrost, this one has me puzzled.
Thanks in advance |

Take a look at this drawing...
Notice the little diverter flaps which are located inside the "Y tubes" under the rear seat bench. The flaps are operated by a cable connected to the lever closest to the driver's seat.
Here's a photo from the gallery:
Good luck, Mondshine |

Thanks for the quick reply.
Those flaps are working and I’m only getting heat out of one side.
On defrost mode the tube going from the floor to the dash used to get almost too hot to hold, not so anymore.
I’m thinking a disconnected heater hose or bellows or too much play in my heater box levers where they barrel clamp to the cabin cables? |

Once you get heat flowing, you’re counting on fan speed to blow air, I added a 12v booster fan inline above the tunnel. It even pulls heat into cabin and will stand streamers up the windshild |

Not at this time, my car is in storage at the local navy base, I’ll try to get some ASAP, fan came with a 4 position switch, off low, med, high. Now it’s wired to a on off switch, high only |

Pull things apart and get the mice nest out of there. Standard VW annual maintenance, should be shown in the manual as it is way more important than a lot of this they do tell you to do. |
