| Assuming you are talking about Portland and Hillsboro, Oregon. What do you need done? Big difference between someone who can do a tune up and someone with the means to do machine work. |

Ever since bill trafton sold his shop, it’s been hard to find an honest shop. The new trafton owners are con artists. I’d stay way clear of that place. Halsey does good work but can be a little gruff and backed up on work at times. Heckman Thieman does great work but can be pricy. Always vw can do good work but is also gruff and the place is a bit of a disaster.
Personally, id take it to Halsey and try one of the others if you don’t get the experience you like.

dave at d and m does good work. he can be a little testy at times but he is honest and he is more likely to refuse your work rather than screw you over. he is a good dude underneath that testiness and he knows aircooled.

Bill was good people, but some of the guys he had working there, especially towards the end, were people I wouldn't trust to correctly fix a flat tire on a bicycle. |

My driveway, and occasionally my friend's huge pole barn "shop" out near Estacada when I need to work indoors and it's pouring rain -- my high-top won't fit under a standard garage or carport.
Generally speaking there are very few places I'd trust to take my cars to, because there's a lot of hack "mechanics" -- with their names on their shirts and everything -- working on cars. |

German Autowerks in Hillsboro/Aloha. Its on TV HWY near Cornelius pass RD. I gave them a try since Nick at M&M closed up shop last year. Good honest work.
110$ per hr labor. I think that's the new normal now. |

BILL knew his shit, and I never saw an issue with anything he personally laid hands on. It was some of the goombahs he had working there, especially towards the end when he'd stepped back from the day-to-day operation, that were causing the problems I saw. |
