My 66 bug was repainted by the previous owner and they didn't match the paint just right. I'm looking to have it repainted again and I plan to match the paint to the factory dash and under-decklid paint.

What color is it originally; Fontana gray or sea sand?

Thank you. The more I look at it, it does look like Sea Sand.

Funny thing is I originally thought it was Fontana gray and I psyched myself up to that color. Now I have to do the same for Sea Sand Laughing

I have an original Fontanna Grey and an original L87 White door here. Most people who look at them cant tell the difference even when they are side by each.

No guarantees, but at places like Tractor Supply Co. (we have several diff. stores here in farm country) they carry heavy-duty enamel spray paint in factory tractor colors. I use "Ford light gray" when I redo headlight assemblies- early gray, not '85 and up ford gray... It is an extremely light gray that often looks white in the sun. It might be real close to Fontana- and if not, redo your headlights for a great match to factory.
