81 Transporter build

It is in the shop. Finally! This is a European model ( zzz vin ) with a high top. As I was removing the high top I came across a Volkswagen part number sticker on the high top support. The support matches the inner contours of the high top perfectly. I am wondering if this came from the factory as a high top ? Any way to trace the parts #? I think this was a high top panel van that was turned into a camper model. I am not sure if it was done by a PO or if done by the factory? The long adventure begins......

yes that's a factory (postal) hightop.
why are you removing the top?

Wouldn't fit in the shop with it on Very Happy

There is some rust and other issues that this van needs. But had to get it out of the weather.
