Well it probably was the tins. Not the 3-4 side so much, but the 1-2 side. My stock tins are in horrible shape, I almost didn't even want to set them on my engine... So this is what I did. Took a 2x4 and placed it right where the shroud and tins meet then gave it a few wacks.

I checked the pulleys with a straight edge and they look pretty good to me.

My manifold is not tightened down, but holy cow look at this. Now I have like 3/4" behind the carb now.

So I'm taking this time to install longer studs.

BTW I checked the gen and it was a 30amp.

I'm going to have to order studs so I will check back in then when everything is tightened down.

Most excellent. the tightened generator strap will help ensure that the shroud wont move once you got it in place. make sure however that the wacking did not bend anything that could cause the fan to rub.

Ditch those head tins for good used OG ones.

That is the front of the carb, as in closer to the front bumper.

2x4 works well. Don't hit it in places you can't bend back.
