So I picked this up about 9 months ago with another bus to repair and revive
Back to life on the road.
Having sold the other bus I am ready to begin on this one and thought I would try and show my progress as I go.
Here are some pics of it when found and how it looks now.

some pics show rust before I removed them or sand blasted the lower portion of bus.
I will do a better job of showing things in order.
waiting for green metal and some auto craft pieces from wolfsburg.
will be welding this week cutting out some more areas for repair. |

Looks as though you have all your "ducks in a row" literally...will be watching progress.
Just curious, with bus and selling other bus, in $ amt., would you mind telling us in cost of what you have sitting in your garage, as it sits? Mind you if that's is offensive I'm sorry for being so forward, I m asking just so me and a newbie will be aware of cost factors.
Cheers

No problem Thomas, but if I told you what this bus was costing it would
blow your mind.🤤
All the little stuff and big stuff adds up $2500 in metal repair panels.
I weld myself so that saves alot of money.
Plus I put alot of effort in doing it as good as possible and I have alot of pride in my work.
And this bus sat in a barn in Montana with 7 or 8 others for 30 plus years
untill discovered 2 years ago.alot of things frozen up and needed replacing.
I had it sandblasted under neath to see any metal that needed replacing
and any other issues.
will post more pics of front beam I am having made and tranny ,engine
and all the little things. |

A solid SWR bus is a thing of beauty. Look forward to seeing this one done and I assume color matched. _________________ Go Reds! Smash state!

I agree SWR kombi is a sweet bus, this was a caravelle camper originally
ordered with 6 long spoon popouts.
I am trying to match color as close as possible.
sandblasted bottom of bus and engine area to really be able and clean up any rust.
engine area will be true swr but lower body will match with paint above.
Thanks for looking. |

Well as you can see I have been welding and fabricating like crazy.
Trying to do a great job and do it well, looking at pics on you tube and samba to get my info on what should be done correctly.
Alot of great pics and info thanks to all✌
So I started at rear corners and engine compartment then jackpoints
and chassis cross members.
Both rockers in and outside then doglegs and front floors..
Then inner valence and outer also A pillars then lower nose.
Then I will blend and put it back together. |
