I had a set of junk housings, I cut everything off the back roloc disc sanded everything down smooth , ran a unibit thru them and used 32-34 ford replacement dual filament parking lamp bulb sockets, they drop in install supplied spacer and nut....... early ford store part # B-13075-2, I did modify the depth of the bulb retainer channel on one side of the light socket a bit for 1157 bulb to fit best pair of taillights ever Very Happy

you are very creative and it sounds like a great idea.
But i am just not into putting more time and money into this bus.
I have decided to bleed brakes and make her a roller and clean her up to sell.
She needs some work on A pillars and lower inner outer valence, I have a new lower nose also if they want to replace it or button her up and go.Dog legs are screwed in and ready to weld after they fix A pillars.
This will be a sweet bus for someone who has the skills and knowledge
to get her road ready.

Cleaned up rear light housing, used salt and vinegar.
then cleaned off with baking soda and air pressure.
big improvement driving lights and brake lights work now.
still no rear turn signals, maybe in turn signal housing.
also grounded lights from battery ground much better.

Have all lights working except right rear turn signal.
traced back to switch and I am getting no power to black red wire (HR)
when signal is used.
No way to get to inner workings, any ideas.

Wash that whole thing in paint thinner while operating the lever. Then try to grease as much as you can with a toothpick and non wheel bearing grease.

See if that works.

well the fun just keeps on coming, the front shift rod is original to bus
rear long one is new wolfsburg west and both connectors are new also.
my question is the front shift rod is banged up and looks like it might be out of alignment with long shaft to rear, I am having a very tight shifter in
all gears .and reverse also is not very smooth.Tranny was working well before I put in bus.
can that mis alignment up front be the issue.
also any pics on correct lock out plate alignment would help.

what is the difference between this coupler and the front one
other then they look different, why is rear one designed differently . this does not seem to fit well
in the space ,the one like on the front connector would fit so much better.

I think it is different because of the rubber in the middle to reduce transmission noise and vibrations

Don't forget to safety wire those mounting nuts

There have been some shift couplers produced that do not align correctly.
They could be bolted up... but caused shifting problems.

Yours may be OK... but... maybe check to see if the screws are aligned.
It looks like they may be a fuzz off.... might just be perspective though?

The orange line is what I thought was in parallel with the center of of the rods.
I think the green line can be offset from the orange line... (due to perspective)... but I think the green line should be parallel with the orange line.

yep looking at the pic it does look offset, i will get under and look again.
also ordered a new front shift rod to replace old original one.
Have you heard if other guys saying that rear coupler fits very snuggly
almost touching metal.
I actually bumped metal up a little to make room above coupler.
Thanks for info.
