What's the number one questions people always ask you?

For me it's "what year is that?"

I feel like I need to put 1977 stickers all over my windows so at least I'll get to hear other questions like...... "will you sell that to me"

Yep its what year is it, even though the plate ring says the year. Would you sell it and my answer has gone up to twelve thousand dollars these days.

Will you take $xxxx for it? I always tell them add a zero and get back to me. One guy finally got the hint when his $500 offer (car is worth a lot more than that) was up to $500K after his third time asking... He’s still mad at me, 6 years later, because I wouldn’t sell him my car. Or the vintage saddlebags (replicas by the way) on my motorcycle.

I put my old “Pickers and scrappers will be shot on sight” sign back up this morning...

The most common comments when I'm out in my VW's are-

* What year is it?
* Want to sell that VW?
* I want one of those so bad!
* Does it have a Porsche engine in it?


A new one for me recently was from a nice kid around 20. "Dude that bus is so dope!"

I've never heard anything but compliments when out in my VW's. Most folks love these old VW's. The younger folks really like them. I've noticed in particular that teenage girls or early 20 something girls really like the bus. The older folks always have great VW stories from back in the day.

As the onslaught on these old VW's being used in advertising continues (think new VW add on extended warranty with the split bus in it), they are only going to become more popular and sought after IMOP.

What year is it? From vehicles driving beside me, from the sidewalk, from Joe/Jane Citizen in parking lots. Usually, it's obvious there was previously a lively discussion amongst the askers about the year, that could only be settled by asking.

Always the year question lol.
I also have a lot of people ask me if it is for sale, and a lot of "anything is for sale at the right price" when I say no. They are always surprised when I reply "not this car."
My favorite though, is when people ask how I get my Great Dane in there.

Most confusing question I ever got, is when someone asked if I had it since new. My parents were 2 when my car was built . . .
