I had one of those moments today.
When I left work and ventured into the parking garage. My car was not found where I left it this morning. In a slight panic, I searched the garage at the level I thought that I had parked at, Usually second deck at column F10.
I kept looking and came to the realization that I was at the wrong level (3rd) when I descended the stairs one more level down and went to my beloved column F10 and found my 67 parked as it was in the morning at 5:45 am.
I know I'm getting a bit up there in age. But this was a case of mistaken garage level, as apposed to forgetfulness. I had exited the building at the 3rd floor pedestrian bridge. While walking down the stairs I misjudged the garage level I was on.
Anyone ever have this happen? _________________ I have learned over the years.

Yep, happened to me last year once, had a brain fart about where I parked and experienced a minor freak out when it wasn't where I expected it to be. Looked a few rows over and calmed down, but that initial moment was rather intense. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I went to a mall in NY with my silver '81 VW pickup with a topper, when I came out I found it a few rows over from where I remembered parking it. I got in, started it, right as I realized that the interior was wrong, someone pounded on the window & I quickly tried to explain that I wasn't trying to steal his vehicle, he said "I know, I just started yours". _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

It happened to my daughter last year.
she had her car actually stolen, then recovered.
Then about two months later she calls and says her car was stolen again, this time from the Mall where she works.
A police report was filed, Mall security looks through footage, etc.
nothing
3 days later, Mall security stops by her store and tells her that they found her car- on the other side of the mall.
Apparently, she parked in a different spot than normal and forgot.
Good thing she's pretty lol _________________ My Photobucket for my Herbie Project - http://s1288.photobucket.com/user/TK-439/library/Herbie?sort=3&page=1

Back in 1983, I gave my keys to my Toyota pickup to a friend so he could go out for lunch. About 30 minutes later another friend said his Toyota pickup was stolen because it's not in the parking lot. Just about that time here comes the guy I gave the keys to driving my other friends Toyota pickup. |

Now (getting very close to my 65th birthday) I make careful mental (or written) note of where I parked.
20 years ago we went to a Padres playoff at the stadium formerly known as Qualcomm. Our minivan was loaded with us, our 3 kids and Grandma. We were quite excited to get in to our seats and did *not* note our parking location. Upon leaving no none remembered where the car was. I finally left the family at a light post in the lot and started jogging in circles until I finally found the Mazda. It was at least 50 yards from where we all thought it should be. No remote in that car and no panic button. _________________ Larry in OB

I do it all the time in large parking lots - forget where the fock I parked my car. I do it so often that I don't even panic anymore. I just walk around until I find it. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it? When I was a kid, my mom had such an experience.
She had parked near the entrance to a Zody's department store, but when we cane out the car was gone! She was in a panic with no car (pre cell phone era) and three young boys to manage.
Just as she was heading with us into the store to use the phone and call the police, my brother points across the parking lot and says "There it is!" My mom says "hush, we didn't park there!"
But sure enough, there was our Rambler station wagon. The park pawl had broken, and the parking brake wasn't engaged, so it had slowly rolled all the way across the gently-sloped parking lot, coming to rest between two other parked cars! Not a scratch on it! |

One thing the VW's have is the Millennial anti theft device called manual trans. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

I've done this a couple times at the Phoenix airport in my wife's modern car.
It was always one of 2 things:
1. Went up the wrong elevator from the baggage claim and came out on the opposite side of the parking lot.
(There are 2 elevators on opposite sides of the baggage claim that are really far apart)
This sucks because you are nowhere near your car
2. Exited the elevator lobby on the wrong side, there are 2 exits, and my car was on the other side.
This is easier to figure out once you look around for a second.
I try to park in the same place all the time but if I have to park somewhere weird, I write down my parking spot #.
I never lose my Bus because I can almost always see it above other cars.

OOOH that phx airport is the worst-- all the layers are the same- even have the same style service truck parked in the same spot on every level-- At least their used to us loosing our car as the "Blue light van" will haul you all over the place till you find it-- Then they tell you to take a phone picture of the space next time so the van can drive you right to it-- _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Hmm, I didn't know that.
I rarely see anyone else when I'm there and have never seen a blue light van.
The Phx parking lot always strikes me a great place if you want to be murdered but maybe because at my old job, a bunch of people were robbed/killed/raped in the parking structure.
Ok, that turned dark... _________________ How to Post Photos

Jesus, I do this every other time I park somewhere other than my garage. This is a rare thing? Thats why I drive a POS modern car to go places usually. I don't care if anyone steals that bucket. Makes me nervous to leave my VW anywhere for more than a few minutes if I can't see it from where I'm at. Heard too many horror stories of ppl getting their VW ripped off. |

I keep a car at a hotel i'm at several times a week for work.Last week I was running around town and stopped at the grocery store next to the hotel and then walked back forgetting I was driving. When it was time to go to work I stood in the parking lot for a few minutes before I remembered. Ive done it twice. Last week I also tried to load my stuff into back of the wrong white Dodge crew cab at Costco. I think each row had several |

Classic!
Except as it happened to me! Coming out of the bowling alley and freaking out!!!
Then find out that some yargoff parked a full sized van conversion right next to where my bus was parked!
Though that really pissed me off, at least my bus was still there where I left it so it wasn't all that bad. _________________ Some people are so busy being clever they don't have time enough to be wise. |

Just another evident as to how times have changed.
With the sheer numbers of behemoth SUVs now prowling the roads, and therefore parking lots, a VW bus could get lost like a needle in a haystack. _________________ “If you care for a thing long enough, it takes on a life of its own, doesn't it?
