Just got a legitimate camera from my dad. Can do 720p video ( same as my phone was getting) so I can finish the video I've been working on. It's a Sony cybershot. I'll have to see what the microphone is like.

Made a new video of a common repair on these northeastern cars!

Link

Let me know what you guys think. I used a tripod for this one, but no mic. The new camera doesn't have a 3.5mm jack on it.

Your latest video is much much better. The camera quality is definitely higher which translates to a better video.

Regarding microphones, you can use a digital recorder and sync the video/audio in any video editing software. I use Sony Vista.

As far as the actual video. It would be better if you showed the measuring and cutting of the metal - not just the finished part where all you're doing is attaching the new sheet metal.

It's incredibly awesome that a young man like you is interested not only on these old bugs, but also doing metal work. Much props!

Thanks man! I didn't think of a digital mic, how hard is syncing? I thought of showing me measuring and cutting, but actually thought people would get bored... I guess not Laughing Thanks again!

Very cool that you are doing this. I agree- anyone who is looking for a tutorial video for this stuff is going to want to be in the weeds with you- they are really looking for and needing the minute details, like how to measure and cut, the best spot for the grounding clamp, how to fix a small screw up, what grinding disk(s) to use, etc...

Hats off to you!

Well the welder is pretty much fixed, but I made a different type of video. Thoughts?

Today's video is too basic for us VW experts here. Wink We want to see more body/mechanical work w/pictures.

Russ Wolfe was a factory trained VW mechanic & an expert here until his death a few years ago. He told us to have Kinko's etc blow up our color wiring diagram to 11"X17" & have it laminated. It does help with troubleshooting wiring!

Laughing Lol Mike, more of those body work videos are coming. Just need to set up the camera while I'm welding. I've also heard to get the wiring diagram blown up, maybe I should've added that in the video... too late now.

You do have to start with the Basics, so this is a good Chapter 1. Cool Your catalog collection is better than mine. I do have a 450 page EMPI Catalog that comes in handy. CUSTOM PAINTING by Tom Brownell is good for bodywork/painting.

And... another video. This time it's an unboxing and review of some parts.

I'm having a new welder shipped to me so I have to make videos like this while I wait. Thoughts?

New video... this time a tutorial type thing. I had a helper who kind of took over, I don't know how I feel about having a helper.

My laptop got messed up... this was supposed to go out next week, but anyway, I unboxed and set up the Eastwood 135. I had a camera man this time, but I think it made the video really shaky.

What do you think? This means I can get back to making regular VW repair videos.
