Couldn’t find info on chemical makeup. Here’s what we did. Earlier this year local vo tech college offered a course in auto detailing, about 60 hours hands on taught by professionals in the business. From the beginning they told us the business is changing so fast you must attend all the trade shows and network within the detailer community, they have forums just like this. You’ll want to talk to the chemists and engineers formulating the products.
It’s good for the consumer because products are coming out fast so fast that what you are using now will be obsolete within 6 months. They have have products now that go on as a cutting polish then breaks down with use into wax. The current best coating available for your paint is ceramic, but the application is tricky. It’s good for a few years and we saw the results first hand.
The small bottle retailed for about 60dollars with enough product to do 2 maybe 3 cars. The detail shops here charge 600 dollars to apply it and business is strong.
60 hours to learn how to clean a car? I learned every time I went and it was well worth the price of 300 dollars tuition. Find out where the high end cars are getting detailed there you’ll find the best products and up to date information.
This will go over like a fart in church with the frugal VW folks. Lol and the boys that wax rust. |

Polydimethylsiloxane is a silicone polymer, all fall into this class.
Alcohol Ethoxylates is fatty alcohol ethoxylate, nonionic surfactant (nonionic detergent, can act as an emulsifier) _________________ 1970 VW (owned since 1972) and 1971 VW Convertible (owned since 1976), second owner of each. Mrs. Cusser is a food scientist, master's degree. But when she talks endlessly about horses and dogs, and people she knows who have horses and dogs, and then about the families of those with horses and dogs, and then which horses and dogs are related to other horses and dogs - then I'm WAY MORE LOST.
Those are the times I can't wait to become hard-of-hearing or wait for someone to put a bullet in my head.
In other words: don't talk about horses and dogs while I'm doing it/her. !!!

With all those horses and dogs you need selective hearing. _________________ www.vwnos.com [email protected]

Go over to Autogeek.net onto the forums and read about coatings vs sealants vs waxes. There is a lot to learn from maintenance to proper washing and drying, to polishing, to protection.
I have been detailing on the side for many years. As with everything the technology has advanced tremendously, but it still boils down to taking proper car of your vehicle in a way so that you do not introduce swirls and drying marring as the result of improper care.
I guarantee that the car wash place down the street is making their money based on turning over cars as fast as possible. I shouldn't even have to remind you not to go there if they use the drive through wash with the stiff "swirl maker" brushes. I laugh when I go by those places and watch someone using the same drying towel used on a wheel (brake dust is metal!!) and then wipe it on paint.
It does not matter how much someone has spent on their car they may not know or give a hoot or want to pay for proper care. I have seen cars that are 125k+ pull into a self service wash and use the frikken brush they have there on the vehicles paint-holy frik.
It is a labor intensive job for sure. If I go to a car show I am lucky to see a handful of cars that are properly cared for paint wise-the others are swirled up and need a lot of care and for the owner to be educated. |

My wife is an Artist, and I'm an Engineer, but we have three dogs now.
So we mostly talk about peeing and pooping. _________________ Good Luck
