OK, brakes are all done. Hardlines bumper to bumper replaced, braided lines replaced rubber lines, new master cylinder, pads/shoes, trump wheel cylinders, etc. Cleaned & flushed out the tank and ran all new fuel lines with new filters at the tank & motor (down by the tranny, not in the engine comp). I did go buy a new fuel pump, shaft, and bakelite "spacer". However, it seems that i can't fit the bakelite in there. As seen in the picture there is something there that won't allow it to fit in.... Confused Anyone got any ideas as to whats going on or what i'm missing here??

Also, I got the front windshield installed but did get a huge top to bottom crack in it, lol. Oh well, at least it's in for now. I'll have another installed later on down the line. This one was already bad as you can see from the "frosting" in the corners and bottom.

Looks like the remains of a broken off spacer is still in there. PITA to get out, for sure, with worry about fallen chunks jamming up the works.

Sometimes you can screw a bolt into it and pull it out. But my question is, why didn`t you clean the engine before doing anything to it in the first place?

You could try running a 1/2-13 tap into it, and with some leverage, pull it out. Or, put the old pump and bake light piece back on, and go with an electric pump. Or use one of those bug pack plates to cap the hole, and go electric. Then, when you decide to rebuild the engine, you can knock the remains out.

ill try the tap and see if that works. The motor came out of the Fasty I use to have. When I got it, it was capped off already and had an electric pump. When I took it out and sold the fasty I decided to put the stock pump back in with the squareback. When I uncapped it, this little fun surprise is what I found.

So I resorted to a Mr. Gasket 42S electric fuel pump. I tried everything to get the broken piece out with no luck. i guess it's been in there for some time cause it's not budging. So, this pump will go in and with any luck it'll work and i can get back to trying to get it running again.

So what's the old saying? "1 step forward, 2 steps back"? lol. So after doing a ton of work to the square to this point, I was a little tires of working on it. So I thought to just take it to a reputable mechanic to have them getting it running. I was able to get it to turn over but just couldn't get it to start. I get a call today that there was 15psi & 25psi compression on 2 of the cylinders and a ton of play in the crank. So now i'm looking at just getting the motor completely rebuilt... Confused It'll be nice to have a nice fresh built motor, but I just wasn't ready to do that just yet.

Thanks. I wen't down to make the deposit on the build and when I got there, it'd 70% built already, lol. Walked me through the shop, showed me all the bad/junk that came off and showed me pictures of the build as it went together. Was not expecting that at all. Kinda got me excited to get it back again, lol.

Ok, so I broke down and got the Vintage Speed exhaust. Only cause I was able to work some things out with the mechanic. Otherwise, it’d be a little out of my price range. I was looking at the hideaway exhaust but the difference between the 2 with the deal he was making me, it was just better going with the VS.

they blasted and painted all the tin black. The block got painted silver. It looked pretty good. I have to order air filters for the carbs. They came with the tall type 1 filters when I bought them. I’m looking in to getting a Ramflo style filter. I like the look of them and they give a bit of a Vintage look.

I think they look great as well. I just think i'm going to have to go with the simple round one since I can't seem to find any of the oval style to fit a 34 webber. All I've found are for 2 barrel carbs. I can "make" them work, but I also don't was to have to.

Lynx has about 20 different carburetor styles for the Ram-Flo by CFM 1000 triangular version for $89.65.
I haven't looked at the 600/400/300 yet because I'd want the biggest 1000cfm?
They even have a blank base for you to cut.

Thx for the link. I was able to find this "offset" oval for a 34 webber.

They also have this round (not a fan of it) for a 34 webber as well.
