Sitting there waiting to go home.
The drive home
Made it safe!!!
There’s the motor. Have some moving around to do. Like the coil to the right side of the fan shroud. Got the proper air cleaners coming and a few other things.
Checking things out. That exhaust sits nicely and exits in the stock location.
In its home for now.

Thanks, I will. I just ordered an air bellow & clamps, coil bracket, another speedo (pulled mine out of the box and the needle was broken off and i saw 2 small gears when I shook it some to find the needle). My air cleaners should be in tomorrow as well. So it's all coming together. After this, I'll start on the rust repairs in the floor. Shouldn't be to bad (I've said that before, lol), fingers crossed. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Looks good. I bet it's nice to have it back home. Congrats. |
Thanks, it really is. After close to 2yrs it really is great to have it running. I'm guessing for the first time in almost 15+ years. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Are the 71's different the 73 where the floor at the pedals area is? I don't recall just removing the two black metal covers and seeing such a large opening . I can't recall. I see it on the 2nd page. Perhaps I am to old to remember. |

They are the same. The only difference that I can remember is the way the seats mount. The '73 has the 3 point with the center mount. Otherwise, it's all the same. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Yup, as far as I know they're the same. The floor changes under the front seats, due to the 3 point mounts. The inset for the rear passengers feet is deeper and narrower. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

So I ordered some nice air cleaners from amazon and they came in today. Unfortunately they’re to tall. I thought 2” would sit under but no luck.

Before I went back to stock air cleaner - I went with Ram Flo cleaners and had to order them from Australia... they are LOW and look/work good. _________________ 1963 Karmann Ghia |

thats what I wanted to go with but that’s a buy for later on. These were only $50 for the pair, although a wasted $50 now that they don’t fit, lol. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.
