Ok, I have to upload the pix here but I got it lowered finally. 2 clicks out back and 3 up front. With a 205/70/15, it hits the inner rear fender. So I ordered a pair of air shocks (since I need shocks anyways) and that’ll give me the slight lift I need for clearance and still have a nice ride on the rear. I’ve ordered the white Empi gas filled “shorty” shocks for the front. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

That 205/70 looks really good on the rear!
My car had air shocks when I bought it but I ended switching to KYB's because I wanted a static height anyways. Did you consider adjustable spring plates? I think they might cost a bit more than air shocks, but could be better for a static height if you're not planning on adjusting your ride height once you have the rear up a little bit. Just a thought.

Thanks. I have considered them, but for now I figured I needed new shocks due to the lowering and figured the air shocks, once sent would be fine and ride good. I have them in my lifted Avalanche for towing and it also helped the ride quality as well. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Thanks, I thought so as well, lol. Funny thing is, it's still got the same rake, just a lot lower, lol. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Squares looking good and congrats on your lowering job! the little victories will win teh battle and get the car back on the road the way you want |
Thanks, and that they are. The biggest one so far (and not done by me) is the engine. I was loosing motivation again because of the work I was doing just felt like it was for nothing. I know it wasn't, but that's how I felt. Now, for the most part anything else that needs done can be done while driving and enjoying. Getting that "instant" gratification helps, lol. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.

Just remember to check and reset the toe in. It DOES change when lowering. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

It'll grind itself off
or, it won't take you take 10 minutes to jack it up, cut it off and squirt a bit of paint on it. |

Got the air shocks on the rear so I can move it. Took it for a drive around the block and ran out of gas at the gate, LMAO. 😂🤣

I was meaning the front will change. It'll go toe out.
The tow hook is your new positive stop. It'll grind itself off, or you can cut it off with a die grinder or Metabo blade in a 4 1/2" grinder. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

I also decided to clean and lay out some Fatmat in the engine compartment to help some with the noise and heat. I'll be doing the underside of the lid tomorrow. I'll probably put a second layer on as well. I love this stuff. I added it to the Ghia (roof, doors, panels, floor, etc. Also did all 4 doors of my Avalanche as well. Light and easy to work with.

Looks good. Nice clean up before laying the mat down too. |
Thx. I used POR15 greaser and metal treatment. Then I painted it all with Rustolium "rust prohibitor" paint just to seal it before laying down the Fatmat. Seems to work good. _________________ 1971 Squareback, fully bagged, 1776.
