this was on philadelphia craigs list
63-65 Vw engine and Transmission , used as a power plant for ski tow rope on personal ski hill.

Now that's a cool hack job! Fixed the stock shifter further back on the tunnel, cut without precision... what do they do for a clutch? They even kept the stock fuel gauge! And is that a lucky horseshoe sitting on it? Shocked

I wonder how they trapped one side's drum so it wouldn't just spin free?

Wow another inventor using what was available at the time and performed well. Engine does rather complete. Explain the exhaust if you can. What is the asking price.

A skilled driver can shift without a clutch. Thought you knew. Wink

I imagine they "clutched" the tow line. Pretty cool nevertheless. Hope the carb wasn't open to the elements. The engine looks pretty complete. Shame if it's full of water.

I downloaded the picture so I could enlarge and zoom in. Looks like they rigged up a lever using the emergency brake handle to operate the clutch.
