So

I'm going to hedge my bet, and source VW Rear Blade and overiders, anyway.
The 67 towel rail Bumper is on it's way, I tried to track it on the Italian website with number given, but hey !! what a surprise the Italian link doesn't work. Hope it doesn't get 'LOST'

I saw these on eBlag UK over the weekend, and just bought them, a pair of overiders that look to be in good condition, and are Painted in NATO Green ?? anyone seen this before ?? anyway they were just under $20 including postage so I bought them, I'll get them restored and Chromed up.

Those are bumper guards, not over-riders (aka. towel bars, ram protection option).

No idea why they are green. Have they been installed before? Maybe someone did a green color scheme on their whole car.

Before you start dropping large cash on rechroming, maybe check this page out:

http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/wolfsburg_new/bumpers/bug_bumper/bug_bumpers.cfm?type=1

Reportedly very good quality and fairly certain they ship to Europe.

Thanks Sharpe
I'll have a look at their stuff.

KTPhil
I was wondering if any VW's were 'seconded' into use for NATO in the 60's/70's in Europe, and were they painted in that colour NATO green ? does anyone on the forum have any knowledge of this ??

Well
Finally got the bumper back, and it looks magnificent Very Happy
Whether I fit it is another matter, in the mean time, I have got 2 NOS normal type towel rails that could replace the 67 only shape ones.
I’ve posted photos, now restored you can clearly see the VW stamp on the blade, and has a 4 one side, and a 6 the other side. I’m guessing this 67 ? Bumper was made April of 66 ? All of the other parts are OEM, and have small VW markings
