Hello,
So as I posted a few photos somewhere else a while back and few people requested more, here it is.
This is my 1962 all original 15 windows bus. I pulled it out of a barn 1 year ago and with only 28 352km from new ! It’s of course a 1 owner car.
It is all original, including the paint. Everything was there, except the outside mirrors which had been replaced by bigger ones but a pair of NOS ones are now installed. Well, at first I thought a few more were missing but the 71 years old man came back to me with a box full of parts and said « I had this in my basement, I guess it is from the bus… ». Inside were the beauty rings and the side kick panel.
Original mohair headliner still there, original seats and kick panels… etc etc.
Actually almost nothing has ever been unbolted from the bus. It had only been used on Sunday to go to the church with the family and to make little drives around.
I have no photos right now but the chassis is still mostly grey with some red oversprays here and there. Its condition is impressive !
Here are the photos...
When the old man show you it still got the original key with original tag....
Some Fall pics !
Original engine was still in it when I got the bus but it is now replaced by a 1600 SP industrial engine in mint condition… I live in mountains and the original 1200 was too light for the big hills around.
Mint dashboard :
A few sewings have been reinforced on the front seat but everything is original and in very very good condition :
Well i know, the inside cargo door felt on a off road track and has been quickly put back... the wrond way Not for long though
Floors are not clean on the pics but perfect condition !
This is the original dealer sticker, with its address on it... and the VW dealer it's still there at the exact same place in Nice dowtown.
The reflectors you see above are original on french delivered busses from this period.
The black license plate is the OG one from the bus and a friend of mine 3D printed the letters. They exactly match the shape of the original letters from early 1963 that were on the bus when i got it.
Fall is great for colorful pictures….
Also, during the sumer i fitted a mosaic interior to travel around europe :
I will add chassis pics when I have time to take some
Cheers from France
Florian

Just a spare battery placed there for the little drive in the area, just in case as my generator works bad since a little while. I will refurb it. |

What a find! Perhaps a prime candidate for filming an episode like the others finds you (Airmapps) have put out. _________________ "I set sail for the new world, then I burned down the mast.... It wasn't the first time, and I know it wont be the last..." Bloodkin

Wow that is a stunning bus! You don't see many Euro 15 windows (or 13 windows, for that matter....) Your interior really reminds me of my '63, right down to the headliner Patina

Very impressive! Thank you for sharing.
Please do add pics of the chassis when you have a chance.
I think in the US it would be called a '63 bus, even though it was buildt in 1962.
15 window buses are sweet!! |

There's just something different about a low mileage, original unmolested bus in great condition vs. a restored one. I can't put a word to it. They are just different and look more correct vs. a beautifully restored one.
Thanks for sharing those great pictures. _________________ Contact me at [email protected]

I do ! I will maybe sell it soon to afford something else though, but for now i drive it almost everyday and have much fun with it !
Here are the chassis pics. It may seems usual for you California guys, but to find such a rust free bus in France really is incredible !
Dirty but all paint still there !
I can't install this back at the moment because of the dual circuit MC, but this is the OG splash pan :

Just bumping this thread back to the top of the forums because this is the only bus all of busdom needs to discuss right now. Undercarriage pics are borderline pornographuc. _________________ '57 sunroof Standard
