a quick question about bus wheel differences

i have a 71 transporter. in reference to the center, axle cutouts, 4 of my wheels have a round cutout and 1 has a star-shaped cutout. why is this?

preemptively, i'm sorry if this info was easy to find but i wasn't able to find it. if it's already been discussed, please point me to it.

Later wheels (74ish +) lack the round hole, cost cutting measures in the manufacturing process I guess.

You should be able to find a manufacture date stamped on each wheel.
