DATE CHANGE: the nice folks from Marymoor park have just asked me to move the meetup one week later so we don't overlap with another event happening also on Nov 5 (somehow it flew under their radar). Same time, same location, just a different date. Sorry for the confusion!
I’m glad to announce our next Seattle Meetup at Marymoor Park.
IMPORTANT: we have to change parking lots for this year’s meeting to parking lot B, read below for directions to it.
Why/What ?
Brave the elements and come out to Marymoor Park for a Westy Show and Tell Meetup. The idea for this one is to tell the group a little about your van and perhaps some of the best mods or projects that you have made. Consider bringing some comfort food (chiili, soup, etc) to help you stay warm while we meet. The meeting is now in November, not December, so everybody should have a chance to talk about Westy projects and adventures without getting frozen.
When
Sunday Nov 12, 2017
11:00 AM
Location
Marymoor Park
6046 W. Lake Sammamish Pkwy. N.E.
Redmond, WA 98052
How to find us
"Look for the Westies"
I've talked to the Marymoor Park people and since Teatro ZinZanni is located by the previous years' parking lot I, we’ve been directed to meet instead in parking lot B by the soccer fields (across the street from the previous’ years location) - see the park map at the following link
http://your.kingcounty.gov/dnrp/library/parks-and-...web_09.pdf
Also, in case you don't know, parking costs $1 in the park. Please, please, please, don’t forget to pay parking, I almost got into trouble one year because some people refused to pay parking.
Background
This is the seventh time we’re having this event. We’ve had as low as 30 vans (2013) and more than 60 vans in 2014 (with 50 on 2015). In all those years everybody had a truly great time.

It's good to be reminded that the cheapest thing in a Vanagon is the nut behind the steering wheel. $1 for parking!?!? ...
Thanks for organizing this event! _________________ - Jim

Change to Nov12 is good news. (for me )
I'm hoping someone has a Westy under-seat heater box they'd like to part with (mine is busted).
======== EDITED ===========
Here's a pic of what I'm looking for. Westy under-seat heater box
Or does anyone have un-used Westy "shelves" that I could use for material?
I could trace my damaged heater box panel and replace it. _________________

SCRAP METAL ALERT!
I'm definitely going again but I'm writing here mostly to say that if there is anyone out there who actually wants a clapped-out '84 table leg (would need to have some welding or similar restoration done in the worn peg groove to restore clamping force), it's yours for free and I'll conveniently bring it to the Marymoor Meetup.
Otherwise, it's headed to the great scrap pile in the sky this weekend.
Also, wasn't there an assessor guy that used to do valuations there? I'd be interested in that, as I want to change my insurance setup. _________________ She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro! |

Oh man, if that guy shows up, that would be awesome. Washington State is so cool that they will not let me register my single cab, even though it was previously registered in Oregon. They won't accept the bill of sale for the value because they can't find any reference to the truck in/on any of their "approved" valuation books/sites. I have to have it appraised to get it titled. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Give a call to John Kincl at http://autoideas.net/ (he's the one doing the appraisals). If several people express their interest, he might be coming again (I assume he would need to coordinate in advance with the interested folks?)

So I called John and the appraisal thing is happening. If anyone else is interested in piggybacking on this idea send me a PM, he's got time for a couple more vans while he's there. _________________ She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro! |

How many of these have been brought in through Tacoma??? ...and they have no reference? _________________ This free advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I know, right? It's like talking to brick wall though. Once they have their mind made up, there isn't much room for being rational or reasonable. And she was pissed at me because she couldn't figure out what it is. I tried again at a different location but got a similar "we don't know what it is so we can't value it properly" attitude. _________________ "Sometimes you have to build a box to think outside of." - Bruce (not Springsteen)

Update: we are at two confirmed and 3 unconfirmed for appraisals. Limit is 5. Only reason I'm coordinating through the PM system is I don't want to spam the guy's email out to the internet at large, since he doesn't list it on his webpage. _________________ She's built like a steakhouse, but she handles like a bistro! |

You guys laugh it up. It's not going to be fun walking around with an umbrella peering into van windows to see what's inside since nobody's going to have any doors or slider open. Maybe we'll luck out and get a 2 hour rain free window like last year. |
