I like that Featherfill G2. You better be ready to work fast but it builds great with no shrinkage at all. What gun are you using and what size fluid tip? I have an Iwata with a 3.0 fluid tip.

I’m using a harbor freight central pneumatic hvlp gun with a 1.4 tip. It’s a little smaller then what is recommended on the can but it got the job done. A larger tip would definitely work better.

I used a cheap Titan 1.8 tip for spraying G2 and thought it was pretty good. Nice wet overlap with no runs

Stripped down the 36hp engine. Cleaned up the case to inspect it.Looks to have only been line bored once with standard thrust and the crack measures out to be 10/10. Looks like it will be good enough to use. Also took out the oil gallery plugs. These will be getting tapped for pipe plugs.

Oil galleries tapped and plugged. Two 1/8”, three 1/16”, and one 1/4” Plug we’re used. Then one 90 that I ported was used for full flow. The oil pump is a 26mm pump that is plugged with 1/4” plug for full flow. Also changed the 6mm pump studs to 8mm. Disassembled a 019 distributor cleaned it up and painted it. Also vented the valve covers.

Restored some original headlights today. Sandblasted and powder coated gray then spray painted the black on the outside. Wolfsburg west chrome rings, bulbs holders, screws, and adjuster brackets were used. New seals that I had for the glass was also used. Original e1 hella glass installed.

Funny that for how long I have been messing around with VWs, and adding full-flow to my engines, I think that this is the first time that I've seen it on a 36HP engine!!!! Nice work! Cool

I have been doing my research in the vintage speed section. There is a lot of good information over there on 36hp modifications.

Cut the case for a sand seal, drilled and tapped for 8mm case savers, fly cut the cylinder bases and rebuilt the fuel pump.

Went through the generator. It got new bearings, brushes and springs. Also cleaned the contacts in the voltage regulator

Drilled a hole in them and used the threaded piece in my slide hammer kit.

They will allow more room for bigger cylinders. Also I wanted to use case savers because 10mm studs on later cars have a problem of pulling out of the case without them. I’m not sure if that is also common with 36hps.

It may not be in the cards, but I recommend going with the 69.5mm crank by WW or having DPR make you one.

Biggest regret when I built my Okrasa 36hp engine

Removed the stock cam gear. Drilled the holes out and used my gene berg cutter to cut the recesses for bolts. Also sandblasted and powder coated some of the small tin pieces.
