he plans to reach an altitude of about 1,800ft before pulling two parachutes. |
He's only going 1800 ft in the air?
What's the point?
I was higher than that a couple weekends ago on a hike up a hill behind my house. _________________ How to Post Photos

Yeah, but did you drive your car off the top of it & try to get out?
At 1,800 feet, there's not a lot of time to get a parachute open, a main parachute can take about 1,200 feet to open up. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Well, he might not believe in science, but I bet on Saturday he's going to find out that science very much believes in him!

I hadn't heard about this guy until yesterday. I have a couple theories though.
- I don't think he's really a flat earth guy. He previously had a Kickstarter, and only managed to raise like $300. The flat-earth people gave him $8000, so he stuck some stickers on his rocket, and repeats their rhetoric. I think it's BS just to fund his rocket and stir up some hype.
- I also don't think this will happen at Amboy. I doubt he's secured whatever permits and other organization to publicly pull this off. If he actually launches, it will be from an undisclosed location. Bait and switch for whatever officials might try to shut him down. |

Good point.
I was at the top of a steep drop at the time, I wasn't going to jump off because I believe in science. _________________ How to Post Photos
