I appreciate the information . seeing that I'm not very mechanical I don't have the tools or knowledge to rebuild the motor, with some performance upgrades and I have not been able to find a good VW tech around my area, ( Buffalo NY ) I will have to save up some more $ until I can come up with a nice turnkey motor that will produce a few more horsepower. does anyone know of a good VW shop in the Northeast US.
again thanks for the information . |

Don’t sell yourself short keep reading and especially the performance forum. You can network with other VW folks in your area to find what you are looking for. Have fun |

what are the thoughts on the motor rebuild kits that are available?? example being from mid America , they offer upgrades in motor size and performance. Are engine rebuilds kit like these worth the money and do they produce a reliable end product if they are assembled properly ?? |

Forgive my ignorance on this subject. I have been out of the loop for a while. And I've forgotten alot.
Isnt there a limit to engine width on these earlier cars. If so, how much can we stroke them without getting too wide for the engine bay without cutting the engine bay panels and the engine tin still fitting.

I would avoid any engine part from Mid America. They take a part from a large pallet and then ship it to you. They never look at or do any quality control for themselves. Any engine kit, is put together to meet a price point, so they use cheap parts to give you a low price. _________________ Glenn
