What would be the application for a non crank start and an exhaust cut out?

No way. This guy is probably mixing up his cargo doors with our barndoor. no muffler tip cutout on og BD aprons! also missing the crank hole. has one zero too much in the price... Laughing

looks like a '65ish one to me.

It doesnt appear to be quite so cut & dry.

Roughly:
Part no. 211 813 175 > 50-55 Barndoors
Part no. 211 813 175a > 55-59 Bus (30hp)
Part no. 211 813 175b > 60-65 Bus

So this^ (Replacement Barndoor?) apron style seems to share exactly the same part number as the original Barndoor item.

Original Barndoor apron: Crankstart hole, flush catch area, no exhaust cutout.
'Replacement Barndoor' apron: No crankstart hole, flush catch area, exhaust cutout.
55-59 Bus apron: Crankstart hole, recessed catch area, no exhaust cutout.
60-65 Bus apron: No crankstart hole, recessed catch area, exhaust cutout.

^This 'Replacement Barndoor' apron seems to be a fusion of the Barndoor apron, and the 60-65 apron.
But it carries the Barndoor part number (I have a picture of one with the original VW sticker on).

Maybe it was a replacement apron to fit to a Barndoor with a later engine installed?
No need for the crankstart hole. Exhaust cutout needed. Barndoor catch, so flush catch area needed.

a 66/67 (model year) also doesn't have a recess, and has the muffler tip cutout.
it has appendix 'C' 211-813-175C.

Maybe VW built a later replacement for 'BD' era apron from what they had in, say 1967. who'd care for the cutout on their pre55 bus in 67 ?
