So last year i was looking at my 1966 Beetle. I got bord of it was driving my other VW's and not showing any love to my first VW i found lol. So i have a good wife that wont let me see my cars' so i told her i was going to overhauled and spend money she looked at me and said NO you'r not selling it. So what did i do i spent some money. What did i do you ask let start i wanted to put 17'' on it i said well lest go all the way. I put airride kit that me and my buddy build. So we where going to build a turbo motor for it and i had my heart set on turbo. well a few months went by and some how my buddy got his hands on a AMR500 blower and talked me into it. I was not 100% sold on a blower but i hit the drawing board and came up with how i want the motor to look so we started messing with parts and BOOM i have the Beat looking AMR500 motor ever built.
The Motor:
1915 ported with bug heads and H rods.
One off built cam just for this motor
custom intake we build along with the heat plate under the carb.
the generator stand had 1/2'' taken off to make it shorter.
i was going for a Old School look with the motor. i feel we did a good job
Big thanks to my buddy Adam over at seward speed shop for the long night we put in building this car..

Looks pretty awesome.
How's it run?
Note axle boot seam locations (at the 12:00 position on the axle).
To keep the axle boots from failing prematurely... rotate so the seam is at the rear.

Great job just read thru your build. I noticed one of your engine build photos show a vacuum advanced distributor are you still running that? If so and it's a svda style dizzy you can get a vacuum advanced canister off of a Saab turbo (9-3 or 900) which has boost retard which might help if you plan on keeping a dizzy |
