I've been trying to figure out if there are supposed to be rubber grommets that surround the fluid lines as they pass through the body on their way to the master cylinder. See diagram for the location in question:
Are there supposed to be grommets here? I can't seem to find them referred to in any part documentation, yet it appears there should be.
Have a part number????
Thanks |

Harbor Freight has an assortment collection of grommets. It has those and even wiper arm grommets in the 'mix'. _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 44 yrs - Plan B: '81 Rabbit Diesel LS Deluxe - Plan C: '72 Ghia

Yes, that is what I'm looking for.
Anyone have a clue on where to get one or have the Part number? |

If you are not doing a concourse restoration....just find grommets that fit. Harbor freight, home depot, amazon.... |
Better yet, remove the fluid reservoir from the trunk area and get the appropriate retrofit reservoir and plug it straight into the master cylinder. |

Do you have a picture of what you are suggesting? It sounds like a good idea, but would be interesting to see and find out what type of reservoir to mount at the Master Cylinder. Thanks. _________________ 1971 Ghia convertible (Body off rebuild)

Old volvo brakes were supplied by ATE as well.
But you can get them from CIP and others now. |

I positioned mine with the cap to the rear.

Gee guys, thanks for revealing this little gem...Nice idea and cleans up the trunk area without having that residual brake oil leaking everywhere!! Outstanding!
Just need to know how it is mounted there, using a special connector or does it more or less drop in place??? _________________ 1971 Ghia convertible (Body off rebuild)

Uses the same rubber grommets that come with the MC. The 'ends' of the new reservoir fit right in. _________________ Daily driver: '69 Baja owned 44 yrs - Plan B: '81 Rabbit Diesel LS Deluxe - Plan C: '72 Ghia

Sorry. I didn't give a very detailedf reply. Glad the others posted some photos. It's a great option for getting the brake fluid out of the trunk and cleaning up the perpetual corrosion associated with it.
An older Volvo 240 reservoir will typically plug right into the m/c using the existing rubber plugs that the hose ends mounted with. Also, this CIP part looks to be a similar replica and also references a part# for new rubber grommets:

Reviving this thread after more than 2 years.....
I'm to the point of final assembly on my 71 Vert. I did find some grommets that fit: Part Number: 111-971-9112
Purchased a year ago at Hot VW Drag Day swap meet.
They fit perfectly. _________________ No Dents
