What is instide our type 3 ball joints. I have always thought they were presses steel ball into a steel housing, but have read they use plastic. Just wanted to touch base since I am doing some front end service. I fanyone can give a few details, Awesome!

From Bentley Manual. I have never torn one apart to look at it but according to this. Yes it has plastic.

I have puctures of sections of numerous types of tie rods and some ball joints.....but not type 3 .....but they are fairly standard inside except that they are one of the few that you find that are assembled from the front or stud side.

There are a couple of different methods that can be used inside even on the same type of joint. Some methods are better than others.
I started sectioning tie rod ends to get an idea of which brands were better. If some of you have dead ones of known brands.....you might section one and take pictures and post. Ray
