|

Greetings from Sweden! I am wondering what tires would look the best on 6x15 rear rims? I am thinking about 165/65 15, but I have no idea really.. I will submit a picture of my ride also, not the best picture but meh! I need my new 6x15!!
Hopefully I posted this in the correct section!

Hey kyyymm,
If you post this in the Readers Rides forum, there is a sticky thread there called “Official Photoshop my car”
If you ask your question there and provide a description of what you want to see, somebody might be able to help you see what your idea would look like. They normally do a very good job. Good luck! _________________ Plate of shrimp |

Hello Sweden!!!!! That is a cool Bug you have. Motor pictures please!
note wheels is not the best term to use, tires would be more correct. generally wheel and rim mean the samething, the metal rim or metal wheel, and tire refers to the rubber thing filled up with air. although wheel sometimes can be used for the combination of rim and tire.
at anyrate, I recall that 165sr15 tires are a stock size for the Bug, the sr designation I believe is same as or close to a 65 aspect ratio as I vaguely recall.
It appears your Bug is lowered a bit so be careful with clearences for the tires.
with wide rims you could go to a wider tire than stock, Depends on the look you want, and ride you want.
anyway, greetings to you, Keep Buggin! _________________ Help Prevent VW Engine Fires, see this link.....Engine safety wire information

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that my English is not the best, sorry! Topic is fixed now tho ! Regarding the motor, its a stock 1200 but 12v converted, nothing good to see under that hood tbh haha!
I really wanna go for something like the picture i will post. No idea what kinda tires that this could be tho.

The original cross ply Tyres would have been 5.6"x 15" The closest radial Tyre to that was 155SR15. Those are no longer made now as far as I know, and the closest size which fits that 4" rim width is 165/80/15, which also fits the later 4.5" rims. For info, the old SR designation was either 80 or 82 profile depending on which company made them. If you put low ratio 165/65/15 Tyres on, you will change the gearing a bit, better acceleration but lower top speed.
That blue car in the pic above has the rear suspension set so low the rear wheels have a ridiculous amount of camber. Probably handies like a wet sponge. _________________ Rob

205/60/15 would look decent for the rear. Its a popular size. _________________ 1960 Indigo Blue Ragtop (Blue Barry)

A 165/65-15 on a 15x6 wheel will have to be stretched quite a bit. So it all depends on the look you're going for. On a 6" wheel I probably would go with a 185/65-15, 195/65-15, or 205/60-15. You could go with a lower profile tire if higher RPMs at speed aren't a concern. _________________ Kenneth

Oh I had no idea about that. I will most likely go for 195/65-15! If I go for that, how much difference does it do to the gear ratio? |

And also, how much difference does the look on 195/65-15 compared to 205/60-15? Would be really interesting to see! |

This is a good site for calculating tire stretch and gear ratio differences.
