I was trying to make this Saturday OCTO Bus event at LB Veterans staduim but with this move to AZ this month.... I am cancelling it. Just too much to do.
Our plans are to be back in June for 50th Bug in, Prado camp out and OCTO Bus Event.
But I have to figure out on what to drive out then. Both the work van and the RV or the RV with our Smart car inside with all the inventory stock so only have the Smart Car to show at Bug in and OCTO events with sales only at Prado camp out the whole time we are there camping out for 1- 2 weeks. _________________ Werksberg Products....Products that work!

To those that didn't attend, you missed a beautiful day, lots of nice busses, not a lot of good items for sale ...but it was good to see all the folks..looking forward to June.
Cheers

My wife and I attend most of the OCTO events each year with our respective 64 and 67 buses.
While the show itself is well worth the predawn wake up call to drive to Veterans' Stadium, there is a pre-entry problem that is always annoying.
While most of the attendees line up their buses and wait patiently for admission, developing exceptionally strong left legs from all the "clutching", there are the inevitable cheaters/cutters/crowders, who bypass the 1/2 mile long line, zoom up to the entrance, and then squeeze in ahead of all of us who have waited for so long.
This is exceptionally rude and inconsiderate, especially considering the laid back, live and let live nature of the average bus owner.
We have spoken to the event organizers and they tell us that they are not allowed to post signs in the street. Moreover, they can't station their volunteers in the public street to wave off those who zoom up past the actual line.
Those organizers who are posted at the entrance are already stuck with the task of separating non-bus attendees, sellers and bus entrants. Confronted with the second lane formed of line cutters, I guess they find it makes things go more smoothly to just wave them in, rather than turning each one around to take their legitimate place at the end of the line, which is where they belong.
I'm guessing these are the same folks who arrive at the movie theater after the show has already begun, and then inconvenience those of us already seated ahead of time, but stamping all over our feet to wedge themselves into the crowded rows of people too polite to protest this boorish behavior. _________________ "Honesty hath no fence against superior cunning" |

Wow what a great event . Great people beautiful buses and a large swap Didn't bring a bus but I do agree with the previous poster that there was a long line up of vehicles to get in the parking lot . Not sure how the lineup wait time can be reduced maybe a separate entrance for swap and show vehicles and general public cars to park ? |

We are not cheaters that cheat , ha ha !!!
Just kidding.
Most of the people who end up in the second line are swappers/vendors like me.
If you pay attention right before they are ready to open the gates at least 2 of the volunteers ride a bicycle down the line and start telling the swappers to make a second line.
Before that we are all in the same line.
Is there people that cheat ? most likely yes , but most of us have also been waiting in the same line either in front or right behind you since the early hours.
From what I understand the Stadium staff does not let OCTO crew open the gates to attendees or swappers before 6am
Still a great show and many thanks to the OCTO crew. |

I'm well aware of the swappers and have no problem with their alternate line.
The cheaters are the owners who drive in from the other direction against the flow of the line, come to the stop sign right there by the aircraft hangar, and then instead of continuing on and then taking their rightful place at the end of the long, long line .... they just turn left.
Instead of having to crawl forward for a half mile like the rest of us, their "crawl" is about 100 yards. They either force their way into the legitimate line (like the cheaters on a roadway who ignore the "merge" signs and then crowd in at the end) or drop into the vendor line.
As I mentioned, the organizers tell me that when confronted with obvious cutters, they just wave them in rather than slowing things down at the entrance choke point.
These cutters are the metaphorical turd in the swimming pool, who mess things up for the rest of us. _________________ "Honesty hath no fence against superior cunning" |
