I tripped and fell late last night coming down stairs. Tore the ligaments in my ankle and can’t put any weight on it for a while. I’ll be in the boot and on crutches for nearly a month. This is PRIME camping season in the desert right now! I can’t hit 20,000 miles this year now..... It will be weeeks before I can drive standard again, so I’ll have to make my annual Christmas trip a longer one.

Sorry to hear about that, buddy. Let me know if you need a chauffeur to the desert. _________________ -Kent-

Sooo this friend you speak of We just need to get you “Clutch-Crutch”
Link
But seriously. Someone made a gimmick called the “Clutch Crutch”
1:14 min in to see it in action. Although the presentation is so bad. You may want to watch from the beginning

I have faith you are already scheming a way to clutch with a brace on.
When I was 19, I had my right knee taken apart and rebuilt after a tumor had eaten the cartilage and was winding its way thru the muscles. It was a 9 hour surgery, with six months of physical therapy. Luckily, my brother lent me his Ford van (yes, SamboSamba... an original shaggin' wagon!)
In order to drive it, I set my right leg with full brace over the center console with my foot under the passenger dash. Then I learned how to operate the accelerator and brake with my left foot. It took a while to adjust, but after a few tries, I got pretty good at it.
So keep those remaining brain cells clear, and you'll be making your own YouTube video on driving a manual transmission Bus while wearing a brace! _________________ -Kent-

the clutch in my 71 is remarkably easy to push for being mechanical..
I'm sure I could operate it with a crutch.. but I guess that would all depend on type of traffic..
not like you need another new accident to add insult to injury.
I used to have my girl do the shifting while my right arm was otherwise occupied..
many women are good operating a stick with their left hand.. _________________

Xevin, I just got a chance to check out those videos. Frankly I can’t believe that my insurance covered what it already has. But I got the cheapest crutches made, so I doubt they’ll spring for something like that.
Now, this afternoon I’m mounting a bottle opener and beer cozy onto the left crutch. After that, I’m looking for a way to use my clutch pedal with my left. Colin felt the pedal and made a face like he thought the pressure plate was broken it’s so damn soft. Brian described it as “stepping on a sponge.” So I shouldn’t have the hardest time. We have a Horrible Freight buzz-box welder and I would like to source a spare pedal piece to weld a receiver on. Anybody have one sitting around they could lend me? I’ll send it back in January after grinding off my fabrication tabs
