ive got the flared style early fenders on the front of mine now, wish they were wider,Ive thought about widening them.but Im just too lazy these days to work on my own car ,Ive got wide rears but...there still hanging on the wall.... rebuilt steering box..on the shelf....new beam...under the racecar....unfinished never run racecar...needs to go.then ...I might be able to do something on my bug in the shop. |

I really hope that you weren't inferring that this was a good example of done right.
It really gives it the fat chick retaining water look. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

That's exactly what I was saying. If it's already a fat chick, and you're widening the fenders even more, this is about the best it will get.
If you disagree, feel free to show an example of a fat chick with widened fenders done right-- but I get the feeling you just don't like fat chicks. _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

Flared fenders didn't allow for full suspension travel. and usually got cracked and broken.
I remember seeing a lot of this crap in the 70's, flared fiberglass fenders just didn't last. _________________ Good Luck

oh they seem a little wide. 3 inches is a lot. What you need wider fenders for, wont be getting much power out of the auto stick? What kind of wheels are you getting? _________________ 17 years old

Going to add my 2 cents here. When I was searching for wide fenders, it came down to Mark V and Creative Car Craft (I know, dont really have many other choices). After talking to both of them on the phone, I went with CCC for 2 reasons. His product is far superior and he (David) is a very nice and knowledgeable guy to talk to. I had questions that the salesman at Mark V couldnt answer and asked to speak with the owner since he knows his own products. Nope sorry cant help you. Ok then...
Even 3 years later when I ran something over and cracked a fender, David took the time to explain to me how to repair the fender correctly. Absolutely excellent customer service and highly recommend Creative Car Craft to everyone. _________________ 1970 Bug Shell - the rest of it, well see for yourself...

I have run some of the Creative Car Craft widened fenders & they were a good fit & heavy construction. I would use them again. _________________ Everybody born before 1975 has a story, good, bad, or indifferent, about a VW.

Well to be fair, if I was ever going to put widened fenders on a bug, it would be on one I considered disposable anyway.
