The bus has been loving its daily driver duty here in Wilmington, only issue being a snapped accelerator cable and some minor electrical issues.

Hey CSpider!

I just saw your thread. We also have a Riviera, 1975 "Big Emma". We have a full-size poptop rather than a small one. It's awesome that you are restoring yours! Does it have a name, btw? I didn't see one scanning your thread. Smile

We actually just restored our whole roof (fiberglass, wood frame, etc. etc.). Just in case it is helpful, here is the link to the write up, but I'm guessing most of this won't apply to you:

Do you have a picture of your top popped? That would interest me Smile

We've also done a bunch of other stuff on her - because of a mishap we had last year, we have been restoring putty much everything. We totally hear you on the scarcity of Riviera parts! We are currently working on adding struts to help lift our roof (I currently can't lift it alone Sad ), but we haven't found a single Rivi top with this feature to model on - Westys are no help at all - so it seems like we are pioneers on that front.

Here is a pic of our Bus, we also have a link to our travel/repair thread in our sig:

Anyway, if we can help you with Rivi questions at all, please don't hesitate Smile It's really cool that you are doing this project!

Hey thanks for the reply! Iím glad to see big Emma is back in business after the flood incident! I followed your thread awhile ago, pretty neat. Eventually I need to do something about the interior but it works for now.

I would love to see some older photos/dealer photos of small pop top rivieras, I really havenít been able to find anything.

My top kinda struggles to stay up on itís own but hereís a photo from camping in October.

Thank you Tom! They are 34s ordered from CB, the linkage took a little modification to fit right but overall Iíve been happy with the set up.

Thanks man, I really do like my vintage speed exhaust... Itís not too obnoxious but has a little aggression to it. I always wanted one for my beetle but could never afford it, well worth the wait!

Havenít updated this thread in awhile so itís time for some progress pics!

I have been working with my dad at his shop Motorwagen USA building this motor for my bus. I have learned so much more than I ever expected working hands on beside my father, it was truly an amazing experience! Big thanks to him for showing me the ropes.
