I'm thinking of replacing the engine in my 64 bug. If I decide on going with a long block what size will fit into a 64. from what I've read some long blocks are a very tight fit . So before I can do anything more I'd like to know what fits.. any info on what works or what dosent work would be helpful. Thanks |

There is no set size. It's how it was built. Wider engines don't easily fit. I can build a 1600 with long rods and get a wide engine. A short rod engine with B or C pin height pistons would make a 2L+ engine narrower than stock. |

I've seen 2276cc engines in ovals, so if you build it to fit... it can be done.

I have Cima 90.5 P/Cs, Berg 190 VW rods and Berg 69mm crank for my 1776. With dual Kads it was a little tight. Had to get smaller air filters to close the lid. All in my '59 Type I |

Same here, but you can build pretty much any large size and get it to fit. _________________ 1965 Herbie Replica. 1776cc dual Kads.
