Recently purchased a 74 Thing, now figuring out what I got myself into. Seems like previous owner may have done some front end “work”. Thing sits slightly slanted to drivers side and a quick look underneath shows new steering parts but it also appears the Y Brace / front beam supports are missing. Any idea why someone would remove those? Would they still be there is the previous owner lowered the front end or maybe replaced the front beam with a beetle beam? |

got a picture of the front arms/ball joint connections.
either po cut away braces but most likely put beetle axle.
Thing ball joints all point down mounting on top of spindle mount areas.
Beetle top ball joint points down and bottom points up. the ball joint studs point towards each other. borrowed pic from gallery (below)

Awesome, thanks for the photos. Now I’m in the market for a true Thing beam! |
