Should remove the casting flash in those heads fins for max air being able to flow thru for best cooling. Have even used a circular saw to clean the outer fins.

Hi Jo,
Glad you got the bits, I'll be interested to see how the original pushrods sit and seat with the rockers.

Also, can't really see properly in that pic, but if you stand the pushrods on end next to each other, are they the exact same length?

Cheers,

Greg

Good! You also want a hole/s drilled thru any pocket that has none or a very small hole for the size of the pocket. If that is just not possible, you want to have a side hole out.

From the transporter workshop manual on the early 40 HP heads:

Hi Jo,
I bet if you put a straight edge on the top of those two standing up they aren't the same length?

However if they are the same length standing, I doubt they are when installed, look at the ball cup on the chromoly pushrod, the wear mark and shaped of the whole thing is so much different to the stock one.

Looking forward to some more progress pics when you get to that point.

Cheers,

Greg

Don’t purchase from cip1

Hey there,

I'm not sure I understand. the part you received seems to be the exact part you've ordered, just with a different finish on it. I don't see anything different between what you have and what you've got from us. If you have anything besides the finish to bring to my attention however, please do.
Thanks,

Unfortunately, you are experiencing all of the reasons with the aftermarket world why so many keep suggesting to stay with as much of the original components, such as this...

The crappy parts places have your money & now they couldn't care less because they pretty much all get the same crappy parts. Some vendors are better, most are not. All of us have experienced this to some degree. Good for you for seeing it through & realizing that most of the comments are meant to help, not criticize.

So you ordered four rocker blocks and got three that appear to have been milled on one side and are thinner, and one "normal" one that has a different finish right?

If that's the case, that sucks. How in the world are you supposed to set up your rocker side play? Are the three non-zinced ones thinner as the picture make them look? Or are they just offset drilled for the stud? Either way, that sucks.

Is there no machine services where your at? Any machine shop should be able to narrow stock OG one's pretty easily. And you can have them narrowed the right amount from one, or both sides as necessary.

On another note, what's up with the nylon spacers? I've never seen them before. I'm not sure I'd trust nylon in that application but with the new plastics available, maybe it's ok ?

Will never use cip1 again.
They have threatened me this morning.

Will find machinist to remove 1mm of other new solid rocker mounts.
We won’t use nylon washer.

Greg as you can see in picture.
Intake valve on 1st can’t move across until a 1mm shaved off right side of mount..also the exhaust valve on 2nd needs the same..
A few pages back on my updates lists
How many people have problems with this..they just shaved a 1 or 2mm off the
Mounts...

Did you remove the manifold gaskets that were in place? It appears that there are gaskets that are already crushed into place.
