The Shepard's crook is upsidedown. It's supposed to leave the carb, go up, then down to the vacuum can. This keeps fuel from running down to the vacuum can and ruining the diagram.

Just a thought. To re-coupe some of your money spent try selling all the old parts you did not use like the heat exchangers on Facebook VW BUY/SWAP SELL AUSTRALIA.

That torque multiplier tool is one of the best VW tools I've ever bought. No more fussing with long breaker bars and brute force.

But what is that tool in the first picture top right? Kinda looks like a oil filter wrench but I don't know what it does, or if I ever needed one lol

Ah I see. I have a long thin screwdriver that serves that purpose although I haven't touched my belt in many years. Actually I just ordered a replacement it's been on there so long.. I'll have to find my screwdriver.

This is the second tool like this I’ve seen today, I’d give it a try but frankly in 40 plus years of working on these beasts I’ve never had a problem doing it as outlined in the workshop manual. I’m not against innovation and coming up with easier or better ways.

2 b honest while ordering parts looked useful.
When I took the pic of tools purchased I didn’t know what it was.
Hence I haven’t used it but since it cost $40 plus.
Will give it a try & post pictures

I have no doubt it works and is an improvement over the old way. Cheers.

Re-route the plug wires for #1 and #2 . . . they should go under the generator so as to avoid interfering with the throttle. Wink
Sure looks nice in there!! Cool
