For the past two decades I have used a lacquer in a spray can that I get at my local ACE. I can't remember the brand. But there is a pic of a park bench on the label. It goes on like a dream and dries fast and hard. Not too glossy. Not too shiny.
I will post an update when I get home. |
Finally got around to doing this. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Not sure temp limit (i can check the label when i go out to the shop), ive been using it for engine tin with great results for at least 5 years. Small bare spots do t cause issue without primer _________________ Pres. Rivercity VW Club www.rcvwclub.org

I talked to a SEM representative today and was told part#39143 was a satin (15-20% gloss) and part#39063 is a gloss (70% gloss).
Sounds like the gloss may be closer to what I am looking for. I'll take some pics of the SEM gloss and the original black paint and post the results here. _________________ WANTED:

Seems most semi-gloss I have tried have been too flat and just does not look right. |
I think the cheap stuff from Home Depot is close. (At $0.97 per can, it's cheap enough to test.) I have used it quite a bit, both on things that have been prepped well, and on stuff that I just did a quickie clean up, and I always get the same result.
