Is there anyone out there that restores heater boxes? There are several repro's being made, but none of them are appropriate for a '57.

Those are for an early split window.
The ones in your cip1 ad are correct for a 57. |

Ditto. They are probably not 100% correct on every detail but are correct for a '57.
Edit. They would be correct for March '58 and later but will work on a '57. _________________ Chris

The car came with square boxes like these:
My understanding is that they are correct for cars made between March, 1951 and March 4, 1958. http://www.zarwerks.com/heater_boxes.htm Am I mistaken?

The Samba picture above, is the very early heater boxes...pre-51 and are made by a gentleman in Poland.
The CIP1 link are matches for post 58 boxes...but will still work.
No one makes a replica of the square boxes, but there are at least two versions of the square boxes...early and late. The differences are small and mainly pertain to how the box attaches to the j-pipe. The other difference is how the two halves of the box bolt together. The early ones use bolts/nuts, while the later versions had Weld-nuts on one half.
I restored/repaired Charmaine’s 54 boxes...not something I look forward to again...however, shoot me pics of yours |

thanks for clarifying that. I knew they switched to the later style in the later 50's but was thinking it was a little earlier than '58. _________________ Chris
