I'm on my yearly backroad cross-country trip from Seattle to Fort Lauderdale with my two mutts in my Westy and was wondering if anyone in Fort Lauderdale would like to get together this winter. Seems I can't throw a rock in Seattle without hitting a vanagon, but I know only 2 other vanagon owners in Lauderdale. We could bbq at my house just south of Oakland Pk Blvd at the beach, or if there is enough interest and my driveway won't hold enough vans we could meet at Birch State Park. I was thinking the end of January, since I hope to be there in a couple of weeks, barring any breakdowns. Interest anyone? |

After all you did to help OntheVanagain retrieve that lost socket, I think the meet-up will be in your honor, SeveM! |

The last weekend in January is a Full Moon Bus Club campout on the Suwannee River. It is always a good time. Potluck Saturday night. Beautiful location. Check their website for details. The campground is near Mayo Fl. It's called
Convict Springs. Camping is in the original section along the river. Hookups if you need them. The organizer takes donations for firewood. That time of year we burn some wood. We'll be there. _________________ ☮️ |

Does Saturday January 13 work to meet-up? I know three other Vanagon owners in the Lauderdale area and I'll contact them personally. I'm thinking we can meet at my house since there likely won't be very many of us. 11:00-3:00 and I'll bbq lunch. Beach is just across street too so bring swim gear and surfboards.
P.M. me for address. Merry Christmas! |

I'll be road tripping the south in early January but I should be back by late January. That is if I don't drop another socket into my torque converter. I'll PM you my number. |

Looks like we're set for Jan 13 at my house for the meet-up. Three, possibly four people confirmed. I'm waiting to hear from a couple of others too. And please feel free to contact van owners in the area to let them know. The more the merrier!
Sorry you can't make it Dobryan, but you're welcome to driveway camp at my house on your way thru in April. Nice quiet spot with easy beach access. |

Hello, van could use the exercise. Might have the time to head down. No need to feed me, I'll pm you if I can make it and for the address. Thanks for hosting. _________________ ☮️ |

Thanks for the offer Mark! We make it from Baltimore as far as Daytona the first day then Key West the second. But if we ever need to stop in Ft Lauderdale for the night I'll look you up. _________________ Dave O

Look forward to meeting you Mark Ward. So far we have 6 confirmed, which is great considering how rare vanagons are in south Florida. I'll bbq hamburgers and have beer and sodas for everyone so no need to bring a thing.
And offer of driveway camp always open Dobryan. Lots to see and do here on way to Keys. |

We're all set for the Lauderdale meet-up this Saturday. We have 5 vans confirmed and even a sweet '78 bus I met this week at the beach. 11:00 at my house. PM me if I forgot to give you address and phone. I'll have everything- burgers, veggie burgers, beer, soda, surfboards, boogie boards, and beach towels too. So no need to bring a thing. |
