Hello from the UK time i showed you the 53

All of the 1953 bit are there bar the engine

All wings and bonnet/boot are OG

Got correct tanks and 53 key to replace the accessory key lock

Best guess would be an early 60's stale air 40hp or bastard 40, 1200cc

Agree, looks like a 40hp engine.

Post the engine number from right underneath the generator stand

Did the car have the 25 ho engine with it ?

What type of semaphores ?

Why is the car rusty in some odd places? as in the drivers side rear?

Whats the deal with the two mirror? driving school car?

Hi,
My march 53 oval has single screws ribbed semaphores and 25hp engine, It's not so clear for your oval because it's from end of 1953.
I don't know exactly when smooth semaphore has arrived but nearly after August - September, but seems Volkswagen continued to mount early semaphores after this era depending on supplying and what they have in stock.
there is a thread speaking about this subject if I'm right.
That's also the same era for the end of 25hp engines, 36hp came at the end of 1953.
Maybe some others people will confirm it ?

Morning Richard been looking at your car collection for years on Vzi. Car was found on here from a VW Tri dealer in Sweden . I have a lot of old paper work for the car)

Had to sell my vert to part pay (Shame after all the work ) but always a OG car

I am not going to restored this car just repair what needs to be done as i believe it too good

Just need to find the correct engine and do take the oil paint off the car. Done the boot already with acetone to get back to OG paint.

All of the 53 parts are there done lots research on Samba..(Inc 7 bolt bonnet )

Further the correct tank which i bought is the same colour as the car which i believe to be correct (what luck!!!!)
